Civil Rights Violations

You have Civil Rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution and the New York State Constitution. Police officers or prosecutors must have probable cause to arrest or criminally prosecute you. Even when the police have probable cause, they are not permitted to use excessive force or brutalize arrestees.

The unfortunate reality is that police arrest and charge innocent people without probable cause every day in New York, and that police officers frequently use excessive force in effecting arrests. You may be entitled to monetary compensation if you have been the victim of police misconduct.

What happened to you?

You were arrested and you should not have been.
Taken in without a good reason, held for hours or days, maybe released with no charges at all.
False Arrest & Imprisonment

The police hurt you.
Struck, slammed, choked, sprayed or Tasered, or injured in handcuffs or in the back of a van.
Police Misconduct & Excessive Force

You were charged and the case went forward.
The arraignment, the court dates, the lawyer you had to pay for — and in the end it was dismissed or you were acquitted.
Malicious Prosecution

Most of these cases involve more than one of the three. You do not have to work out which is which before you call — that is our job. Tell us what happened and we will sort out which claims you have.

All three run on short deadlines, and they do not all run on the same one. If you think you may be out of time, call anyway. That is a question to answer on the phone, not on your own.
